About EJ

My name is EJ Ouellette and I am the Principle at Whole Music. I am a professional musician/multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter/music producer/engineer/music business consultant/teacher and music/film studio owner and entrepreneur. I belong both to the Recording and Production Wing and the Education Wing of the Recording Academy. I have operated and owned 2 large music teaching schools that included recording studios in the northeast of Boston, both with 400 students each that employed over 75 teachers and full staffs. I am on a new mission now. A living mission with more emphasis on a new vision in the new Music Business Environment and Virtual Music Development.

I have been playing gigs since I was 12 years old. As a performing artist for 45 years, I have performed in concert halls, festivals, clubs, coffee houses, colleges, corporate/private events and celebrations. In the last 20 years I have been performing solely with my band EJ Ouellette and Crazy Maggy. Prior to that it was my band Beat 4 and as in demand instrumentalist for many touring regional artists in many genres.

At EJO Whole Music Studios I have been developing musicians, singer/songwriters/recording artists for 40 years. We have trained 15,000 musicians in our studios and many have gone to music college from Berklee College of Music to Belmont College Nashville, the Boston Conservatory to the Guitar Institute in LA and more. Many of our clients now have professional careers in music and many just do it for the love. That is why we do it. For the Love of Music!

We are expanding our Artist Development Program that will include more releases on our Whole Music Label. What is Artist Development? I have been developing artists in my studio for many years and I have accelerated their learning curve and abilities with my approach to songwriting, singing, arranging, instrumentation and in recording audio technology. I/we prepare artists for real careers in the new music business. AD now includes marketing approaches. We can show you how to develop your professional image, project your music regionally, nationally and worldwide.

My studio is a wonderful place with 5 rooms that are all designed to be acoustically sound proof and accurate. I am running Avid Pro Tools Ultimate, Presonus, Logic Pro and Ableton with a large cache of mics and Class A preamps for capturing live performances. My studio is fully equipped with instruments and the drums are always miked. Acoustic instruments sound heavenly at EJO Whole Music Studios. Strings...Sublime and horns outrageous!

I record instrument tracks for clients nationally and internationally for their record and films projects. I have produced over 1500 professional recordings over 40 years, worked for major labels and ongoing. We have a large community of Artists in Development now and more releases coming.

We do still teach music lessons on most instruments. Most of our clients stay with us long term because they understand what pros can do to help them master their instruments with joy and expertise. Whether they are kids starting out, teenagers finding their Music Mojo, adults that have a passion for their instrument or seniors starting out because they always wanted to play an instrument or are returning to music. We teach/develop all ages, all styles and all abilities, right up to pros who want to take their music to the next level of professionalism. Don’t let our track record scare you. We love beginners!
